BORDER COLLIE RESCUE MOST URGENT APPEAL.

Please spare us a few minutes of your time to read this, it may change a

life.

This is Joe and his story, he asked me to write this on his behalf, as although he has made a full recovery he still can’t type!

My name is Joe given to me by my foster dad cos when he first saw me he thought I resembled the boxer Joe Frasier, a black eye and full of scars!

Please look at my photo’s not a pretty sight but my story has a happy ending.

I can remember lots of pain and trying to hide away from the hurting in my body and just when I thought I could stand no more I felt a human arm lifting me up and although I wanted to scream in pain I also felt a warmth and kindness in the arms caress.

I awoke to find lots of strange faces peering at me lots of concerned voices and then thankfully sleep, bad dreams but then soft murmurs and a smell of something I had not had for a long time, food yes it was chicken it really was chicken am I in heaven I thought?

My eyes cleared and I saw a face that smiled and told me all would be well and to try to eat.

That was 4 weeks ago and I am told by my foster mum that they thought I wouldn’t make it that my wounds from being mauled were so infected that when they had to wash them out I was thankfully given a sedative.

You may be thinking why was I saved why did these good people spend so much time and money on healing my wounds and my soul…why because they call themselves Border Collie Rescue and I for sure needed to be rescued.

The reason I am telling you all this is because Border Collie Rescue has reached a crisis and they need your help as much as I did.

These amazing folk do such incredible things that I am sure go way beyond anyone’s expectations. In any one day they will drive to Natal to pick up a dog with a broken leg that the farmer has dumped, drive half- way to Bloemfontein to take in a dog that the owner can’t keep and cries so much on the phone that all the volunteers wonder if they should rescue the owner along with the dog!

At 8 pm when the worst storm in years is crashing down upon them the phone rings ‘’Help there’s a BC running down my road I can’t catch it can you come’ These girls don’t say sorry I am just having supper or well nothing I can do wait till the rain stops they get in their cars and they go! They are certainly my unsung heroes but they don’t want medals they don’t want patting on the back they don’t need to be told how wonderful they are. Shall I tell you what they want to be told? They want to be told that they can carry on, yes they are quite mad but that’s what they want.

Now here’s the sad part that if Border Collie Rescue does not raise some funds soon this very necessary organization will have to close its doors.

The average costs to run Border Collie Rescue are no less than R20 000 a month. These are the kennel fee’s [and believe me they get a really good price] sterilisation, vaccinations and veterinary care.   The dedicated volunteers take no salary and spend large amounts of their own money in keeping BCR alive.

They have told me about your support at their fundraising events like the barnyard theatre evenings but the money that is raised is barely lasting a month and their funds are running out. I have heard them whisper their worried thoughts they don’t want to close the door.

PLEASE PLEASE can you help?

I think that what they need is for you wonderful caring folk to donate a monthly amount by debit order so that they can see how much they can rely on each month to get them through this crisis. If 200 people each put in R25 a month that’s R5000!

My wounds are healing and my faith is restored I shall soon be looking for a forever home although parting from my foster family will be very hard for them and for me as we have been through so much together. Without Border Collie Rescue I would be dead its that’s simple and I need you to know how important they are to the plight of the Border Collie so here I am looking almost as good as new and now appealing to you to help rescue them.
